Virginia makes you prove you know how to handle a handgun before it will issue a concealed permit. We teach that class in Manassas, in person, 4 hours for $150, and we do it right. You walk out with the signed certificate the courthouse requires and the safe-handling skills to carry like a responsible adult. New shooters are welcome, and no, you do not need to own a handgun to take it.
A concealed carry class that meets Virginia’s requirement
Virginia law requires you to show handgun competence in person, and since January 1, 2021, online certificates do not count. Our class is taught in person by a certified instructor, so your certificate holds up at the courthouse. There is no live-fire range requirement for the permit, so a first-time shooter can take this class and walk out ready to apply.
What the class covers
We cover Virginia carry law, safe handling and storage, use of force, and the responsibility that comes with carrying. We spend as much time on when you may use a firearm as on how. Your certificate lists the instructor’s certification number, which the court requires.
How to get your permit after the class
You take your certificate and file your application with the clerk of the circuit court where you live. The sheriff runs a background check and a judge signs off. We lay out every step in class. Your proof of competence does not expire.
Who can take it
Open to anyone eligible to possess a firearm under Virginia law. For any live firearms training, you must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a consenting adult.
Price and schedule
$150 per person, 4 hours. See upcoming dates and grab your seat on the class calendar. Group rates may apply.
